The first "Lightart Biennale Austria" is a non-commercial exhibition of lightart. There are light-artists as well as visual artists who uses light as an art-medium the first time. The Biennale 2010 is using the slogan -private light in public spaces.'

The Lightart-Biennale Austria 2010 starts in autumn 2010 in Asutria, consultant is Peet Thomsen (USA/Copenhagen/Linz) and the works are selected by a jury.

The start of the Biennale will be September 2nd in Linz (OÖ) and September 4th 2010 in Perchtoldsdorf (NÖ), with a final exhibition in Vienna in November 2010. We inform the public by documentation of the Biennale within a Blog, a Website and there is planned to print a catalogue. The submissions can be watched on www.lightart-posterous.com. Selected artists and exhibition spaces can be seen on www.lightart-biennale.at. The Biennial of Light Australia 2010 is a first time in 2010 to view an exhibition of contemporary art, where stands the use of the material of light in the foreground.

General: The first " Biennial of Light Australia 2010 " carries the slogan "private light in public spaces " and is part of the action LALA 2010 in Austria. The name stands for LALA Linz ( Austria ) and Langenzersdorf (Austria ), which operate the two initiators of their studios . Linz has established itself as European Capital of Culture 2009, with the Lentos , Ars Electronca Center and the Bruckner already well established in the cultural landscape. Langenezersdorf has the Hanak Museum and the Museum Charoux (Anton Hanak , and Siegfried Charoux are two major Austrian sculptor) a place in the Austrian museum landscape.

From the 13th April 2010 under the National Biennial public spaces to urban locations for international artists . In the empathy of the artist stands in the respective situations of places , streets , public buildings in the foreground, and not least Referring to the persons who frequent these public places and in or operate. Already -made works, which are made individually in selected public places in a new context and new, just -made works are equally possible. There are the buzzwords light art, public and private spheres in the center of the curatorial interest made the first artistic director of the National Biennial of Light Australia 2010 Martina Schettina Langenzersdorf from Kiel and Manfred Hofer from Linz.

Venues: The venues of the Biennale as serving public places will be ausgewält by the artists themselves . There are no restrictions , so that every artist finds the maximum possible freedom of movement for his work. Accordingly, the heterogeneous reactions of the visitors is expected to be short term intentionally or unintentionally, to the audience. Also the contact with art can be familiar or under this Biennale piloted .
