The city known for its prime rib steaks and deep-pan pizzas hosts the annual Taste of Chicago in Grant Park. The festival features menu highlights from more than 70 restaurants that showcase their cooking in colourful pavilions throughout the park.

Mini-portions of different dishes are available for two or three food tickets, which are sold in strips of 12. Chefs give cooking demonstrations and a variety of entertainment is thrown in to keep visitors happy while they're munching.

A 5km race, a talent competition and dancing help to work off the calories. There is live music every afternoon on three stages, a giant Ferris wheel and other rides, plus plenty of activities and entertainment especially for children.
