Mirbeau Inn & Spa - Skaneateles, NY
As cooler weather approaches the kitchen becomes a welcoming space of warm. What better way to celebrate changing seasons than with the Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Skaneateles, NY line-up of fall and holiday culinary classes. The one-hour classes are led by the French-inspired inn's team of culinary pros. The season begins with a focus on French cuisine classics and ends with party-worthy holiday pies and cookies. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings and are offered free for Mirbeau members and overnight and spa guests. Those not staying at the property can participate in the classes by purchasing a Day Spa Pass for $45 (which also comes with access to Spa Mirbeau facilities).
Sept. 24, 2014 — Mignardises & Petit Fours: Participants will learn to bake bite-sized treats, including macaroons, madeleines, financiers, and more.
Oct. 8, 2014 — Cheese: Students will learn the secrets of assembling an amazing cheese plate from local grocery store offerings (including chutneys, jellies, etc.)
Oct. 22, 2014 — Classic & Creative Brioche Pastries: A demonstration of brioche dough and its use as a base for an assortment of flaky treats.
Nov. 5, 2014 — Soups: A cold-weather favorite, this course unveils the tips, tricks and techniques behind soup-making complete with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
Nov. 19, 2014 — Perfect Pies: In time for Thanksgiving baking, this class focuses on creating a perfect crust for pies that can be served during the holidays or any time of year.
Dec. 3, 2014 — Braising: Students will learn the secrets of slow cooking to turn tough meats into tender, delectable, fall-off-the-bone meals.
Dec. 17, 2014 — Cookies: This demonstration of seasonal cookies is a must-do for any home baker with holiday parties and cookie exchanges on the calendar.
