New York City's annual Summer Restaurant Week is gracing Manhattan the last two weeks of July (Monday-Friday, July 21-25, July 28-Aug 1). For $24.07 (lunch) or $35 (dinner), diners can get a 3-course, prix fixe meal. Over the years, the EATS team has had its share of good, bad and everything in between.
New York City is blessed with thousands of fantastic restaurants. During Summer Restaurant Week (which actually stretches over two weeks) some of the very best offer three-course prix-fixe lunches and dinners at a fraction of the normal cost.
And when we say top restaurants, we really mean it. From the city's finest French gastronomic experiences in Soho to great American slap-up meals in hip downtown eateries, innovative new-style Japanese cooking or a civilised lingering lunch with dazzling river views, you are more than spoilt for choice.
The only thing we can say is, don't wait until the last minute. Both locals and visitors clamour to get a table at some of the city's best dining rooms, which normally charge at least quadruple the price. The full list of restaurants can be accessed at the New York Tourist Office website and tables can be booked one month in advance.
Note: The price doesn't include tax, drinks or tip.
