Austin Fashion Week is set up as a series of events hosted primarily at participating retail and salon locations dotted throughout the city. Designers from the state of Texas will set up showcases within each participating retail and salon location. These designers will work through a vetting process to determine the best and brightest the state has to offer. The vetting committee looks for established designers, up and comers, and those just launching their first lines. We are interested in clothing, accessories, jewelry, even home accessories and furniture. In 2009, approximately 150 events occurred during Austin Fashion Week inside the participating retail and salon locations. The 2010 Austin Fashion Week will be August 14-21.
Austin Fashion Week also features statewide Photographers, Hair Stylists, Makeup Artists and Models. This group will be heavily featured through creative teams at the 2010 Austin Fashion Week Kickoff Event on August 14. Participants in these categories will show over-the-top looks on a 120-foot runway to jaw-dropped attendees. The teams will also submit a gallery piece that will be auctioned off the night of the event to the general public.
