During three months, Paris celebrates the arts: exhibitions, dance, theatre, music and cinema have been honored by the Autumn Festival for more than forty years. It was in 1972, at the initiative of the minister of Culture Michel Guy that the event had its first edition. From the very beginning, its international character was highlighted by the attendance of artists and companies from all over the world with the permanent ambition of becoming a festival of creation and original shows.
Under the new direction of Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota, manager of Théâtre de la Ville, the festival remains unchanged and can count on the fidelity of many artists whom it has once discovered: the Argentineans Rodrigo Garcia, Daniel Veronese, Robert Marthaler from Switzerland, the must-see Bob Wilson, who will read Lulu by Wedekind accompanied by Lou Reed and the Berliner Ensemble, but also the choreographers Boris Charmatz (associated artist at the latest Avignon Festival), Meg Stuart, Lia Rodrigues, La Ribot, Mathilde Monnier, William Forsythe. The Berlin Flemish Collective could be one of the revelations with its new creation, Tagfish.
