Cancún's carnival celebrations go on for three jam-packed weeks, with parties, concerts, exhibitions and other events. Squeeze yourself into a space in the crowd to take part in this unmissable Mexican street party. The whole festival culminates on the final weekend with the main parade, held on Avenida Tulum in front of the Municipal Palace. The streets of the city fill with thousands of people who vie for space to see the processional floats and dance along to the lively Latin music in fancy dress.

Please note: the festival programme also includes bullfighting. If you find such spectacles unpleasant then they are best avoided.
