2009 marks the fourth year of the Group's sponsorship of the Open de France Alstom, as a title sponsor. The cooperation with Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) has been strengthened and the common commitment to turning this tournament into a global scale event is even more present, with the perspective of a new date and the creation of « Race to Dubai ».
This year's event will also be special with the participation of the Masters champion, Angel Cabrera, sponsored by Alstom, who should attract a high level attention from spectators and media.
For Alstom, the French Open is first and foremost an outstanding public relations opportunity, with customers and partners attending - and returning eagerly year after year - from all over the world to take part, as spectators or participants of the pro-am.
The coming 2009 venue gives the Open de France Alstom the opportunity to stand as the most important tournament in Continental Europe. Its prize purse of 4 million euros ranks it quite near to the Majors (grand slam and world championships) and places it among the very first European Tour events. A position it has gained since its centenary in 2006.
