Grassplot-brand pachyrhizus is recalled
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the nationwide recall of Grassplot-brand dried pachyrhizus because it contains undeclared sulfites.
The FDA said the importer of the product -- Lion Pavilion Ltd. of Brooklyn, N.Y. -- recalled the uncoded, 8-ounce, clear plastic packages because the Chinese-made dried pachyrhizus -- a Central American vine that produces tuberous roots -- presents a health hazard for people allergic to sulfites. The product was distributed nationwide.
Consumers can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund, the FDA said, or contact the company at 718-384-6951.
