Texas-Texas A&M return to Thanksgiving
The annual Texas-Texas A&M football game is returning to its traditional Thanksgiving night schedule.
The Big 12 Conference on Monday said, for at least the next two seasons, the Longhorns and Aggies -- fierce rivals -- would play on Thanksgiving night. The 2008 game would be Nov. 27 at Austin, Texas.
The rivalry between the teams dates to 1894 with 60 of the 114 previous meetings having been played on Thanksgiving. But they haven't played a Thanksgiving game since 1993.
I am very excited about playing our Texas game on Thanksgiving night,
Aggie Coach Mike Sherman said. This tradition-rich rivalry between two great universities deserves this type of exposure. I am hopeful we can keep this date for this game in years to come.
Texas owns a 73-36-5 edge in the series but Texas A&M has won the last two matchups.
