BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 25 (UPI)

NHL: Philadelphia 4, Buffalo 3 (SO)

Danny Briere scored the winner in a shootout Monday, completing Philadelphia's comeback from a three-goal deficit for a 4-3 win over Buffalo.

The win ended a 10-game losing streak. The Flyers started the game shorthanded and on the brink of a new franchise low -- no Philadelphia team had ever lost 11 in a row.

Philadelphia trailed 3-0 and without Mike Richards (hamstring), Simon Gagne (concussion) and Joffrey Lupul (ankle). But Jeff Carter, Scott Hartnell and R.J. Umberger scored in regulation and the Flyers won for the first time since Feb. 5 at Atlanta.

Philadelphia signed Briere to a lucrative eight-year contract in the offseason, luring him away from Buffalo, where he played the previous three seasons.

Jason Pominville had a goal and an assist and Ryan Miller made 32 stops for the Sabres, who are now tied with Philadelphia for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
