Custom Hand Stitched Exotic Handbags
Beatrice Amblard, Founder of April in Paris was born in France. She was 16 when she visited the famous Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Paris. It was here that her career as a master leather artisan began and soon after was recruited by Herm?s as an apprentice. While working at Herm?s, she continued to hone her craft working on the legendary "Kelly" bag and smaller leather goods. In 1987, Herm?s asked her to be their "Ambassador" to their new San Francisco store, making her only the second employee of Herm?s Paris to work in the United States.
Bea stayed with Herm?s for 14 years before opening her April in Paris boutique in San Francisco. She is the only Herm?s artisan to design and sell her own line of handbags and leather accessories in the United States utilizing the centuries old technique of hand stitching every bag.
