The Musee dex Beaux-Arts in Rouen is dedicated to the acquisition and display of fine art in the form of paintings, sculptures, sketches and objets d'art. The quantity and quality that comprises their collection is largely unrivaled in Europe, and dates back to the 19th century.
The collection is presented not by theme, artist, or style, but rather in chronological order. Highlights within the towering museum come from Purugino, Veronese, Rubens, Caravaggio, Velazquez, Ribera, Poussin, Monet, Gericault and Delacroix. It is home to the largest collection of Impressionist works outside of Paris.
