While a judge suggests global peace, both firms know this “smart” war is not going away anytime soon. It is another day and another battle cry from both firms. Apple pushes for a higher settlement from Samsung, while Samsung keeps chipping away at the enormous figure demanded by Apple. Now the South Korean-based firm is seeking a new trial.
Each side is armed with impressive and expensive legal teams that are also fighting smaller battles in other countries. While those legal costs are likely astronomical, they are dwarfed by what's at stake: a global smartphone market that is expected to be worth $150 billion by 2014.
