A group of scientists believe that the blood of French King Louis XVI, who has beheaded by French revolutionaries in January 1793, was uncovered in a gourd.
AFP is reporting that spectators at the execution dipped their handkerchiefs in the executed French king’s blood and placed those in to a hollowed-out gourd.
The scientists said the DNA is very similar to genetic material from what is believed to be the mummified head of an earlier French king, AFP reports.
After Louis XVI's beheading many spectators were reported to have dipped their handkerchiefs in his blood.
