Boeing is reaching new sales heights for its aircraft as the manufacturer received orders for about $100 billion on the floor of the Dubai Airshow.
The big purchase orders include 342 total commercial aircraft from four separate airlines in the State of Qatar and the UAE. Airbus took orders for 142 of its aircraft. Emirates ordered 150 Boeing as well as 40 Airbus jets.
The Dubai Airshow is seen as an increasingly important barometer on the state of the aviation industry and the rising roles of the big-spending Gulf carriers Etihad, Qatar Airways, Emirates and flydubai as they compete for routes and critical stopover traffic between Asia and Europe and the Americas.
