The Cadillac ATS has been named the North American Car of the Year. The luxury automobile was selected from a field of 11 cars by a panel of 49 automotive journalists from Canada and the U.S., reports MSN.
The Cadillac ATS finished ahead of the Ford Fusion and the Honda Accord. Style, eco-friendly engine options, and the vehicle coming in both a manual- and an automatic-transmission package were key points.
The automotive journalists also selected the Ram 1500 as the North American Truck of the Year. The Ford C-Max and the Mazda CX-5 rounded out the top three picks.
This is the 20th year of the North American Car and Truck of the Year, and the resulting awards seem to be more and more coveted as the years pass. As opposed to an accolade from any individual media source, a NACTOY victory gives an automaker an across-the-board trophy that gives it additional credence.
