Fashion abounds during the 12 day Cannes Film Festival, with a star studded fashion show to aid the Japanese Red Cross. Ivana Trump decided to hold the fashion show, and auction that followed, during the Cannes Film Festival because "All the rich people are in town for the festival, people in movies and in fashion, so they can reach into their pockets and give money to help…"

Stars such as Rosario Dawson, Naomi Campbell, and Jane Fonda, plus a large group of models donated their time and beauty to the red carpet event, wearing fashions by top of the line designers, such as Lanvin, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Valentino, along with a host of other designers. The stars that graced the red carpet did so without a hitch; however, a viral video of a model falling down repeatedly has hit the internet.

Japan has always been a forerunner in the fashion industry from chic to quirky and sometimes outrageous. Peter Dundas of Pucci, a Japanese fashion icon said, "Japan's disaster is our disaster.”
