AP reported that a bullet-shaped, high-speed train, on Wednesday, departing from Beijing for Guangzhou got the world’s longest high-speed rail system on track. It marked the opening of the much-anticipated opening of the 1,428-milie line.
China has a fleet of high-speed trains called G802s that travel at a rate of 186 miles and reduce travel time by as much as 50 percent. The Chinese government views the launch of the rail system as being beneficial as a technological upgrade and a citation of its status as a global power.
More than 150 pairs of high-speed trains will run on the new line every day, the official Xinhua News Agency said, citing the Ministry of Railways.
