Looking to rival the London Eye, the current tallest Ferris wheel in London, the new Skyvue Las Vegas Super Wheel, part of a $100 million privately funded project, is set to open in 2013. Developer Howard Bulloch, of Compass Investments, has reported that the Super Wheel will also host a roller coaster and 200,000 square feet of retail, restaurant and entertainment space. Each of the 40 gondolas will accommodate 25 passengers, which will be available for private rental. Visitors to the Skyvue Las Vegas Super Wheel will have views of Sin City that will be hard to rival.
According to Bulloch, "[the] Skyvue Las Vegas will complement both the hospitality and entertainment industries.” With the hope of creating jobs and offering a unique experience in entertainment, Bulloch hopes this new attraction will “fill a niche in our economic recovery.” This project is designed after the London Eye, which brings in more than 3.5 million visitors each year.
