With only 499 LaFerrari automobiles made, it is not really surprising news that the $1.4-million cars sold out.
With no new vehicles to be produced, the Italian sports car becomes an instant collectible. The firm sold 120 of its hybrid cars in the U.S. market.
Ferrari produced a total of 7,300 vehicles in 2013, only up slightly from the previous year’s output of 7,000. It is the company’s first new car since the debut in 2002 of the Enzo. The supercar accelerates to 60 mph from zero in less than 3 seconds and has a top speed of 220 mph.
Revenue reached $2.4 billion and profits were up 20% at 350 million for the year.
….LaFerrari is a technological wonder, with a semihybrid engine that combines a 12-cylinder, 6-liter combustion engine with an electric engine that creates a combined 960-plus horsepower.
