It is here!
And the only caveat to report on this story is that users will have to pay $100 for the phone … but that is it. It is a one-and-done deal that will give consumers a totally free wireless plan.
FreedomPop is making waves by giving away its wireless Internet service for free. From what Gizmodo is reporting, free and worthless have nothing in common here.
The plan comes with free text, free minutes, and free data. The $100 cell phone is an HTC Evo Design 4G that runs on Android 4.0. The system runs by piggybacking on Sprint’s WiMax.
Is it only the beginning? Gizmodo says….
…. Users will get 200 free anytime minutes, 500MB of free 3G/4G data, and 500 free texts (as opposed to unlimited, like originally pitched) every month, for free. Free free free. And if that doesn't do it for you, you can get extra data at the price of $.02/MB as you go, or you can pick up packs of 1GB for $10, 2GB for $20, 4GB for $35, or 5GB for $40. And for voice and text, you can go unlimited for $11 a month.
