Holy crap ... to say the least!
Flying first class to India to meet poor people and lying under oath about spending money excessively are two of the allegations that led to the Vatican summoning the German bishop,Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst, to explain his church-sponsored luxury lifestyle.
Additionally, the bishop also allegedly spent more than $40 million on a luxury home and an office. The head of the church in Germany said a commission would begin an investigation on the matter this week.
An audit by the church revealed that the bishop’s building project went 600% over budget and included a chapel, a museum, private flats, and a bath valued at more than $20,000.
A report from the German churchis due by the year’s end.The bishop apologized for any carelessness or misjudgment on his part. However, this is not going to be resolved by a confession and some follow-up prayers at the altar. Amen.
