While a whirring chainsaw or a hunkering zombie in a hockey mask is indeed a sight that prompts horror in audiences at cinemas, it is no match for the simple, subtle imagery that old-school, filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock used to scare the living wit right out of his viewers.
