JetBlue Launches New Luxury Brand -- Mint

Commercial airline JetBlue is adding a luxury section to its flights in mid-June 2014, USA Today reports. The announcement was made on Monday.  

The new premium section, which is called Mint, will be available only on flights between New York and San Francisco and New York and Los Angeles next summer. Passengers flying “Mint’ will have an exclusive tapas-style menu, a customized amenity kit, and lie-flat seats in the premium section.

The move is expected to increase revenue by 30% for the airline. JetBlue also is planning to renovate its single-class seating as well, according to the firm’s CEO Dave Barger.

The inaugural flight departs from New York’s JFK and lands at the Los Angeles International Airport on June 15, 2014. 

….JetBlue says it is particularly keying in on travelers who might fly their airline from Boston to Orlando, but prefer to travel from New York to LA or San Francisco on a larger network carrier such as Delta, United or American where they can enjoy the comforts of business or first class.
