The cozy house where Kurt Cobain, the lead singer and frontman of Nirvana, lived in as a child was put on the market and lists for $500,000, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The family single-family residence in Olympia, Washington, which is assessed at less than $70,000, is obviously targeted at a fan of Cobain or an eclectic collector of celebrity-related memorabilia. The mattress Cobain slept on is included with the house.
The deceased lead singer was a 2-year-old toddler when his parents purchased the 1,522-square-foot house in 1969, according to the book,"Heavier than Heaven: A Biography of Kurt Cobain," by Charles Cross. However, Kim Cobain, Kurt’s sister, claims that the house was bought when he was a 6-month-old infant instead.
Kurt Cobain died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head at the age of 27 in 1994.
…. "In terms of the price, we really thought about the fact that he was, according to many sources, the poet laureate of Generation X," said Fitz, a realtor with The Agency, a Beverly Hills-based luxury real estate firm. "How many times does that kind of item come on the market? Not very often."
