Why are more than 80 percent of top CEOs not active on social networks?
Damage control and time-management are two reasons offered to explain why the big wigs are running against the grain. Another reason offered is that CEOs do not think they need to spend time amassing followers.
Mashable reported that only 18 percent of the top 50 chief execs are on social networks. Additionally, three years ago, only 16 percent maintained a presence.
Between 2010 and this year, the percentage of the top 50 CEOs on Facebook grew from 4% to 10% while the percentage on Twitter dropped from 8% to 2%.
