Timon and Pumba are getting a make-over, into 3D that is. Disney’s newest film to be re-mastered and made into 3D is Lion King, and it’s set to be re-released in theaters on Sept. 16, 2011. Lion King is the newest of the Disney movies that is being brought to the 3D market. The lineup of Disney’s 3D Blu-Ray’s coming out in 2011 are Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, Bolt, Meet the Robinsons, The Nightmare Before Christmas, G-Force and Chicken Little. The Lion King set the bar for animation in 1994 as the “highest-grossing hand drawn animation film of all time,” earnings came in at $783.8 million worldwide in the box office.
Disney isn’t the only one to re-release a classic as a 3D digital re-master. James Cameron’s epic hit, Titanic, is set to join the 3D ranks on April 6, 2012, being released by Paramount, 20th Century Fox and Lightstorm Entertainment.
