The Lotus Esprit dubbed the “submarine car,” which was featured in the 1977 James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me, sold for $864,600 at an auction on Monday, according to a report by Reuters.

Auction coordinators RM Auctions conveyed that the final selling price was indeed lower than the pre-auction estimates between 650,000 and 950,000 pounds (roughly about $1 million to $1.5 million).

While the report indicates that six shells of Lotus Esprit models were used in the making of the flick, which featured Roger Moore as 007, only one the cars actually was made in to a submarine.

The auction house previously sold the Aston Martin DB5 used by Sean Connery as James Bond in the "Goldfinger" and "Thunderball" movies for 2.9 million pounds in 2010.
