While the major automobile rental companies are putting their own car-sharing business models together, a startup is taking the concept uptown, reports Tnooz.
Silvercar is operating out of an airport and offering luxury automobiles to the car-sharing model. The process is convenient and works off a smartphone app. The service currently is available only at the Dallas/Ft. Worth airport, but expects to expand to other airports.
Currently only available at the Dallas/Fort Worth airport, each car in the 200-car fleet is accessible via QR code. A customer simply walks up, opens the Silvercar app and scans a QR code on their phone. No need for an additional card in the wallet – it all works with existing technology.
