Amazon has released its list of the most read cities in the nation, and not surprisingly the home of MIT and Harvard, Cambridge, Massachusetts topped the list. Amazon compiled data from sales of books, magazines and newspapers both in digital and print form. College towns were the top 5 takers with Berkeley, California, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Boulder, Colorado, along with Alexandria, Virginia, joining Cambridge on the list.
Amazon’s Managing Editor released a statement regarding the list of Top 20 "most well-read" U.S. cities. "We hope book lovers across the country enjoy this fun look at where the most voracious readers reside, and that everyone gets the chance to relax with some great summer reads."
As for what people are reading, the non-fiction book readers are in Cambridge, while Boulder is dominating the domestic field, ordering the cooking, food and wine books. The most children’s books were ordered from Alexandria.
