Mozilla’s Firefox will launch its own operating system for mobile devices in by midyear, ZD Net reports. It will make its debut in emerging markets and not in the U.S.
Brazil, Columbia, Hungary,Mexico, Montenegro, Poland, Serbia, Spain, and Venezuela will be the first markets to experience the Firefox OS.
The operating system will be based on Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile processors, and it will be available to various mobile operators. Unlike Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android, the Firefox OS will support open web standards from is that it.
Mozilla also claims that its top-notch search capabilities — including contextual search — and integration with Facebook and Twitter out of the box make it very competitive with Apple's iOS and Google's Android.
