The hat that is widely known as looking like a toilet seat and was worn by Princess Beatrice during Britain’s royal wedding last month was sold for $131,000 on E-bay. The money that was made went to charities. The money will be split equally between UNICEF and Children in Crisis. The results of the auction have been posted on both charity websites.
Princess Beatrice, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, has been taken by surprise with all the fuss the hat that she wore to the wedding of Prince William, and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton, is stirring up.
“I’ve been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted,” Beatrice said on the auction site. “I hope whoever wins the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have.”
The hat, designed by Philip Treacy, had a starting price of 5,000 pounds.
Philip Treacy was delighted that Princess Beatrice decided to donate the hat to charity.
