NYC Brokerage to Give $10M to 'Sandy-Affected' Families

A company is displaying its empathy for human suffering with a very generous donation to 10,000 households that were afflicted by the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy.

Cantor Fitzgerald, a New York City brokerage firm, which lost 658 employees on September 11, 2001, in the attacks made on the World Trade Center, will give $10 million to victims of Hurricane Sandyin Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island and New Jersey. The organization isto going to give families, from the 19 different schools, $1,000 apiece on a debit card to help them recover from the setbacks they endured from the infamous storm. Cantor Fitzgerald suffered more fatalities of employees than any other from the attacks on 9/11.

"The best way to take care of a family is to put money in the hands of the parents and let them decide what to do," he said. "Maybe they need a couch and maybe they need to go to Toys R Us and buy their kids a present."
