Fashion designer Ralph Lauren is barking up the right tree with his Fall 2013 Accessories Collection.
Generally speaking, I am the last one here that gets to write about the fashion industry due to my irreverent demeanor toward it. What many people refer to as haute couture, I see as expensive Halloween costumes that are impractical and superfluous at best.
However, when an a campaign embraces homeless dogs in need of permanent homes and pays tribute to the ASPCA’s Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month, it immediately becomes my newest best friend. Ten percent of the sales from select accessories as shown in the short film, The Dog Walk, will be donated to the ASPCA.
The Fall 2013 Accessories Collection by Ralph Lauren is off the leash, featuring a pitbull and other dogs. Yes, it is ingenious marketing, but it also raises awareness to the number of dogs that are in need of permanent homes.
