If getting stuck in the hustle bustle is a regular routine, maybe it’s time to give your brain a creativity break. Adam Galinsky, a professor at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University says detaching from a familiar environment can help gain new perspectives on life.
Traveling abroad or immersing oneself can help hit the reset button on our creativity, because we take a step back and allow ourselves to look at life from an outsider’s point of view. While studies have shown that living abroad reaps more benefits that short vacations, the mere act of taking a step back from the everyday habits will boost creativity and allow the brain to take a much needed break. Professor Galinsky states that an important factor is actually getting away from where one resides. "Not just taking time off from work, but actually getting away from where you live is really important, because that's the only way that you can achieve that perspective.”
When planning your next vacation, make it a vacation getaway that will take you away to a new place, and allow your brain to reset.
