Fathom this one, if you would.

This is one of those times when life is going to attempt to imitate art instead of vice-versa.

Tesla’s founder Elon Musk recently paid $1 million for the Lotus Esprit that was transformed into a submarine-car and used in the James Bond movie, The Spy Who Loved Me, starring Roger Moore as 007.

Mr. Musk told Jalopnik that he wants to make the fantasy car a reality by adding a Tesla powertrain to it to make it work.

Here is what he told Jalopnik what he envisions doing with that car, as reported recently by VentureBeat.

“It was amazing as a little kid in South Africa to watch James Bond in ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ drive his Lotus Esprit off a pier, press a button and have it transform into a submarine underwater. I was disappointed to learn that it can’t actually transform. What I’m going to do is upgrade it with a Tesla electric powertrain and try to make it transform for real.”
