Burglars shattered the front window of an upscale dealership in La Jolla, California, and stole four watches from an enclosed display, which also was tipped over and broken during the robbery.
The stolen watches were four Breitling for Bentley timepieces. Marc Chase, the owner of the dealership, the Symbolic Motor Car Company, said that the worth of all the watches amounted to about $100,000. The watches were on consignment from an unidentified source.
While two cars in the showroom were damaged during the incident, no cars were stolen during the robbery. Bentleys, Bugattis, Lamborghinis, and Rolls-Royces are sold at Symbolic.
Without tipping its hand, the captain of the San Diego P.D. told the U-T San Diego that this was a very specific and unique loss.
There were no witnesses, and not much information on the content from video-surveillance cameras was revealed. Two cars in the vandalized showroom were also damaged during the burglary, making the total loss incurred about $150,000.
....Investigators will use the video, as well fingerprints and any DNA evidence, to identify the suspects. They will also question employees to see if anyone recognizes the pair who most likely have been to the business before, [San Diego police captain Bruce] Ahearn said.
