Thom Browne Wins CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year

Thom Browne, the fashion designer renowned for designing the “Inaugural” ensemble worn by Michelle Obama, was named the menswear fashion designer of the yearby the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards on Monday. The ceremony took place in New York at the Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.  

The team of Proenza Schouler was the winner of the womenswear designer of the year, winning members of the group included Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, and Jack McCollough.

Philip Lim won the accessories designer of the year award for his 3.1 Philip Lim line. Backstage, Lim said a good honest smile is the best accessory. His theory when layering accessories: "When in doubt, take one off. It's always good to have a mirror right in front of you and check it."
