Imagine a car that needs refueled once every century.
That is the story on the futuristic-looking Cadillac Thorium Concept Car.
While it is likely that this is the greenest car ever made, it is unlikely that it will evolve into a daily driver anytime soon. The car is virtually pollution-free. Thorium is stable and not prone to volatility, as it operates efficiently without ever requiring to be cooled off like other nuclear power.
One gram of thorium provides energy that is equal to approximately 7,400 gallons of petroleum.
....Laser Power Systems (LPS) from Connecticut, USA, is developing a new method of automotive propulsion with one of the most dense materials known in nature: thorium. Because thorium is so dense it has the potential to produce tremendous amounts of heat. The company has been experimenting with small bits of thorium, creating a laser that heats water, produces steam and powers a mini turbine.
