Paper or plastic?

While the definition of luxury is qualitative and open to myriad opinion based on personal tastes and preferences, wealth is quantitative and measurable in real terms. The former may be a state of mind; the latter is objectively defined.

Wealth-X compiled a listing of the richest individual in each state in the USA, which was posted recently by CNBC.

With a fortune valued at $70.8 billion, Bill Gates is the richest person in the state of Washington and in the U.S.

Warren Buffet is the wealthiest citizen of Nebraska with a fortune worth $59.8 billion, and Oracle-founder Lawrence Ellison is the richest man in California with a net worth of $46.6 billion. The richest person in Kansas is David Koch at $41.5 billion, and James Walton, an heir to Sam Walton of Wal-Mart and Sam's Club, is worth $37.1 billion, making him the richest person in Arkansas.

Nine of the states in the USA have no billionaire residents. The outliers, Alaska and Hawaii, have no 10-figure-worth residents.

....It only took $300 million to be the richest Wyoming resident, and $400 million to be the wealth king of Alaska.
