Will a Smartphone Replace Your Car Keys?

A smartphone swiped over an embedded NFC tag may replace traditional car keys by 2015, according to a report by Mashable.

The prediction that the smartphone will become more dynamic comes in from the Hyundai Motor Company. The South Korea-based automaker sees more in store for smartphones, such as streaming music, setting radio stations, adjusting seats, mirrors, and many other functions currently done through dashboard gadgetry. 

“With this technology, Hyundai is able to harness the all-in-one functionality of existing smartphone technology and integrate it into everyday driving in a seamless fashion,” said Allan Rushforth, senior vice president and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe.
