How many currencies are you carrying in your wallet?
Make room for one more, as VentureBeat reports that a Bitcoin ATM opened in Vancouver, Canada, this week. The story states that the digital legal tender may be bought, sold, and traded—one commodity for another—via an actual physical machine.
Jordan Kelley, the CEO of Robocoin, told VB that his firm is bringing it to the masses. The mission is to make the virtual cash “grandma friendly.”
….The Robocoin is a full automated teller machine with biometric security — a hand scanner — that allows you to buy Bitcoin in any of 60 different currencies. It is integrated with Mt. Gox and Bitstamp, two of the premier Bitcoin exchanges, and can be placed in stores, at technology conferences, and in financial service organizations.
