Last week, I (rightfully) slammed Miu Miu?s cotton-canvas bucket bag. This week, I?m feeling just a bit more optimistic, as a result of this rightfully whimsical clutch. It?s quirky, yes, and looks a little bit like a luxe lunchbox for a very spoiled little girl (who has fairies for parents), but at least this bag makes me smile!
It?s sparkly. It?s girlish. It doesn?t look like something you?d be able to buy next to a fish market. And even though this exaggerated, Western-influenced, frame-top style is not going to be for everyone, I will say it?s very of-the-moment ? when Miu Miu gets an offbeat piece right, it becomes mysteriously covetable. I have to credit the posh consistency of the sequins, which look like scoops of glittering rose-gold coins, and the blush color, which blends in elegantly with the lizard handle. To quote Clueless, she?s ?not a total Betty, but a vast improvement!? On Net-a-Porter for $1,810.
Pair with: Wear this when you?re feeling fanciful, and don?t try to subdue its sweetness. That?s not to say a little black leather ever hurts! Givenchy?s peplum skirt has a feminine ruffle and appropriate contrast. At Barneys New York for $2,295.
