Remember the slight controversy back in the summer when Anthony Bourdain canceled a shoot at Budacki's because the restaurant advertised about the visit, but then he went anyway? (If you don't remember, here's the link.) Well, he was also shooting scenes for The Layover. The second season of the show finally premiered last night on the Travel Channel, and Chicago was up first. Budacki's is included, along with a host of other excellent restaurants, including Girl and the Goat, The Publican, Publican Quality Meats, Billy Goat Tavern, The Doughnut Vault, Jimmy's Red Hots, Johnnie's Beef, Tank Noodle, and Taqueria el Asadero. I could go on.
But the other important thing to note about the show is what Bourdain said about the Chicago hot dog. Get ready for this one: "By my way of thinking, the Chicago red hot is the finest example of hot dog on the planet." There's really nothing left to say after that.
You can watch clips of the show on Travel Channel's website.
