Coty has entered the final stages of a review of its public relations business in Canada, with a trio of agencies vying for the account.
The assignment includes social media responsibilities and encompasses dozens of brands. Account revenue is estimated at $1 million.
Coty’s top brands include Davidoff, Marc Jacobs, Rimmel, Calvin Klein, OPI and Adidas. The company also markets fragrances in the names of Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, David Beckham, Faith Hill and Sarah Jessica Parker.
In reviewing the business, Coty Canada aims to consolidate an assignment that’s currently split among several shops, according to sources. The company employs PR agencies for its beauty and prestige divisions and hires additional shops for projects.
Competing for the consolidated account are Hill + Knowlton Strategies, Cohn & Wolfe and Veritas, sources said. Hill + Knowlton and Cohn & Wolfe are units of WPP Group and MDC Partners owns Veritas.
The contenders are preparing for final presentations, which are scheduled for next month. Ark Advisors in New York is managing the search.
Ark, which also handled a global creative search for Coty in 2010, did not return calls, and Coty could not immediately be reached. A selection is expected by the end of December.
