Cash registers began chiming even earlier than usual as doorbuster deals and earlier store openings lured hundreds of thousands of Phoenix-area shoppers into the hunt for holiday gifts.Deeply discounted computers, video games, DVDs and, of course, flat-screen TVs were among the more popular items. But so were small-ticket goods such as food-storage containers, camera memory cards and perfume.
