Seoul?s New Bag Museum: Handbag Heaven

December 7, 2012

Why didn?t I think of this?! Not only is this a museum full of bags ? the museum itself is a bag! The mastermind behind this grand palace is Kenny Park, the CEO of the Korean bag supplier for Marc Jacobs and other top designers, and all I have to say to him is thank you! The Simone Handbag Museum opened just last month in Seoul and has over 300 European pieces exhibited ? everything from a horsewoman?s pouch to the iconic Birkin. They have bags dating all the way back to 1500! This is one stop I?ll definitely be making next summer in Asia ? it?s a Bag Snob?s Mecca! I may even need an entire week there ? research, you know? I don?t think buying the latest trends or the most expensive bags make you an expert, so I?m constantly reading up on their history and visiting showrooms and studios to watch craftsmen at work. I encourage all bag lovers to do the same. And with a DIY workshop in the museum, you could be a bag designer yet! Can?t wait to delve into all the bags at the museum. Admission is about $5 ? check out their site for more info on visiting.
