If you are looking for a very special Cognac either as a gift or for yourself to enjoy this Christmas and New Year, you really should be looking at the Remy Martin XO Gold.
The exquisitely designed bottle is striking in gold and is a good starter for what is to come. This cognac is for sipping, neat. Live the dream and accompany with a cigar, there is no other feeling quite like it!
XO is a blend of 85% Grande Champagne and 15% Petite Champagne. Up to 300 eaux-de-vie are used in the blending process, and ageing takes some 10-37 years with a reported 25 yr average.
The nose is exceptionally fruity with peach and citrus at the forefront, with touches of figs and cinnamon, perfect for this time of year. The taste is fruity as well but not over the top. Hints of ?oakiness? and smoke work perfect with that cigar, smooth sipping at its very best.
As impressive as the bottle, what?s inside matches and goes further. This has to be the best Cognac I have sampled. The saying ?You get what you pay for? kind of rings true here. For the price, you get an outstanding Cognac, one that I would happily pay a lot more for.
