Rocio Gaia Dotty Colored Acacia Wood Clutch: Seeing Spots

January 4, 2013

I?m on a black-and-white kick at the moment. Tina and I are attending a black-and-white party in Florence during the Firenze4Ever Style Lab event, and now the simplest yet most striking of color combinations is my latest fixation.
Rocio went for an unapologetically playful take on the pairing. Polka dots are childish by nature, but this is no little girl?s purse. The fact that this minaudiere is made from sleek wood kicks up the sophistication. Sure, Minnie Mouse would be all over it, but only after she got a chic makeover. It?s the shape that makes it: I love the unusually smooth roundness. It almost looks like a ladybug, which makes me picture it in red with black dots? But that would be too Charlotte Olympia-style gimmicky. Rocio stops just short of kitsch, though I still just like the Dotty for its cuteness. A bag like this really serves very little purpose in the real world. On Luisa via Roma for $495.

Pair with: Get eclectic while staying in the tonal family with Anna Sui?s embroidered shorts. Breezy chiffon and sweet flowers adds up to a vacation for your legs. On Net-a-Porter for $345.
